Guide to Website Error Messages

Earthschooling was the first Waldorf curriculum to be offered online in e-book, mp3 and video formats. Because of this long history Earthschooling is also the largest online Waldorf curriculum website. Our site contains more combined e-books, videos, mp3s, blog posts, and photos than any other Waldorf curriculum website. Earthschooling membership has also greatly increased over the years. Because of this we are always making sure our website is up to date with the most recent technology, and the capacity we need to make your experience smooth. However, because of the always changing nature of the Internet and the challenges of hosting such a large site with so many files, you may occasionally experience “hiccups” in your experience. Rest assured that we are always working to make your experience better. Towards that goal we will keep a list of the current possible website error messages HERE and what to do about them. This list will be updated on an ongoing basis.

Note: Not all the messages you see will display exactly as you see them below. Some may contain additional notes. If you see a message displayed that you cannot find below please let us know.

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

SOLUTION: This is only a temporary 2-3 minute outage – we are working on reducing these. Towards this goal we paid more to upgrade the website capacity last month but since these are still happening a few times a day we will be doing another upgrade soon. If this happens to you then check back in 3-5 minutes. You may need to do a hard refresh of the page instead of a regular refresh. We receive reports as to when this happens. The average is 4 times a day for 4 minutes each. Our end goal is, of course, zero.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 256000 bytes) in /home/customer/www/ on line 5281

SOLUTION: This error has to do with the capacity of our S3 server and not our host. This is also a very temporary error message. I have never seen this stay for more than five minutes. If you see this then try back again in five to ten minutes. You may need to do a hard refresh of the page instead of a regular page refresh. We are also looking into having this issue fixed. The average is 2 times a day for 5 minutes each and seems to only effect the Teacher Support page and occasionally other curriculum pages. Our end goal is, of course, for this to never happen.

This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.

SOLUTION: The file is missing from this link. Please contact us at: so we can repair this. This rarely happens anymore since we have caught most of these errors since we re-did the website. However, every once in a while someone will find a missing file that we didn’t catch before.
