I am always looking for creative ways to get my kids to practice their math so they continue to see how useful it is in every day life and the wide range of applications math has. I want them to grow up knowing math as a “normal” part of life – not “something I have to do”. So I was thrilled when NPR ran this math problem on the radio this morning. We enjoyed listening to the show, but I suggest you let the kids listen to the first part and don’t let them know the answer. Enjoy the looks on their faces when they figure it out for themselves!
