These include its common and Latin names, general properties (such as stimulant or relaxant), precautions, historical physiological and psychological applications, oils that can serve as possible substitutions, oils with which it blends well, a description of its scent, for which skin types it is appropriate, and the classification of the “note” (a measure of the rate of evaporation of the oil.) Credit Hours: 140; 301: Introduction to Aromatherapy – 12 Credits; 301A: Aromatherapy Charts & Guides – 32 Credits; 301B: Spiritual Aromatherapy – 32 Credits; 301C: Aromatherapy Preparations and Formulas – 32 Credits; 301D: Case Studies in Aromatherapy – 32 Credits. If you enroll in this class as an individual class then upon completion of the program, you will be awarded a diploma as a Certified Aromatherapist (CA). If you are enrolled as a Naturopathic Doctorate student you will receive an ND after you complete all your courses and a certificate of completion for this one. If you are in the ND program and would like to work towards a second degree in this class please register for a Bachelors or Masters Degree upgrade on this page.


This listing is for the co-op option of the Aromatherapy Course at The Avicenna Institute. By taking this course, you will learn how essential oils were used historically for a variety of conditions that we now call by names such as: arthritis, circulation problems, edema, headaches, inflammation, joint pain, muscle soreness, joints sprains, stress, and more. The course covers more than 56 essential oils. You will study ten of the most essential categories of information on each oil. As a co-op member you have your own private online account and access to online study materials, lectures, videos and MP3s. However, only one aromatherapy starter set and set of books is sent for your co-op to share. Diploma/Certificate of Completion: Certified Aromatherapist (CA)

4-10 students can enroll in this class as a study co-op. The cost is then split between your co-op members. Please contact us with a list of your members so we can register each student individually and send them an invoice for their portion of the course. All students in the co-op group receive full access and certification.
