What are Living Lessons?
Living Lessons are not an online school. Our goal is and always has been to assist the parent/teacher in their own classroom. We also feel it is important that the parent/teacher remains involved in the lessons to stay true to the Waldorf methods. So Living Lessons are a classroom assistant for you and a way for you to become a better teacher by having another teacher lead, guide, and inspire you. Here are some ways in which you may use the Living Lessons:
1. You are homeschooling multiple ages and need a virtual teacher now and then so you can offer each of your students individual attention.
2. You are looking for a virtual classroom experience with a Waldorf teacher.
3. You need a break now and then from homeschooling full time.
4. You want to enhance your own skill set by watching other teachers present Waldorf lessons.
5. You want to join a community of other parents experiencing Living Lessons with opportunities for your kids to connect with other kids in the program.
6. You are running a business or working from home and need a virtual teacher to help you homeschool.
7. You recently moved or are experiencing health challenges that make it hard to homeschool full time.
8. You are new to homeschooling and need a boost of confidence to start off your year.
9. You are new to Waldorf education.

Living Lesson Main Lessons: The Lowercase Alphabet
This set of lessons is ready to watch both as a teacher learning how to present a lesson and as the student. For students the videos can be played on the first day to introduce the letter through the verse and story with the practice portion saved for the second or third day of lessons. You can also watch the whole video straight through on your MLB day for each lowercase letter.
Videos can include a warm, unique introduction to the letter which can sometimes take us out of the classroom into nature, or on a visit to a new place. At the main chalkboard Miss Amy includes words to go with the letter and a variety of colorful drawings throughout the series. Then we transition into a verse and calming breathing exercise to prepare the child for focused drawing. We’ll hear a chime to open and close the practice portion, which includes a letter story, and guided MLB page creation with either chalk or block crayons. The MLB pages are lovely yet simple to deepen the teacher and child’s confidence in using these materials. The final images always include the lowercase letter drawn into the picture.

The letter “v” is VERY! Miss Amy begins by showing us some “v” words that really have some vavavroom to them. Can you think of any more? We take some a peaceful moment to release any vexation on our way to visit a loving tended violet as it grows from a seed. Just like the violet in our story is pressed and kept forever, together we draw a lovely violet to keep pressed in our MLBs.

The letter “w” is wild and windy in the woods as Miss Amy takes us for a walk to watch the fall leaves whirl about. We watch the leaves waltz about the yard while we listen to our verse then relax into our story. Worms may not often come to mind when thinking of bravery but the worm in our story surprises all of his friends by digging down into a watery depth the rest have never seen. Our picture includes wiggly worms waiting for their friend’s welcome return.
