Your Teachers for this Block
Mellie Mae Lonnemann lives in Colorado near the Rocky Mountains where she recently moved with her husband and son. Mellie was a class teacher at the Green Meadow Waldorf School in Chestnut Ridge, NY before the arrival of her son, Joseph. She then taught homeschool students morning lesson, clay art, quilting, and gardening. Mellie received her Waldorf Teacher Certificate from Sunbridge Institute, a BFA with a concentration in ceramics from Alfred University, and a Art Certificate in Professional Maiolica from the Ballardini State Institute of Art in Faenza, Italy. Mellie loves spending time outdoors, being creative, and learning from her beautiful son! She wishes to impart a love for learning through curiosity, discovery and creativity.
Megan Hammer earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Art from the University of Northern Iowa in 2003 with an emphasis in painting and drawing. She has always felt a connection to nature, which has influenced her subject matter over the years. Recently, she has allowed this passion to influence her work even further by using the natural element of wool as her medium. Where a brushstroke once was, a tuft of cotton-candy-like fiber takes its place. Where a pencil would have created a sharp line, a needle now pushes a tiny strand of wool into place. She is continually surprised by the wonders of creating art with wool and loves sharing her techniques with others.
Amy Williams is a Waldorf-inspired, homeschooling mom of 3, Pranic Healer, Arhatic Yoga Practitioner, and fiber art enthusiast, with an Associate of Applied Science degree. Amy is the founder of Parenting Through Prana, where she teaches how to activate the Heart-Crown Connection to shift daily challenges into a heart-centered win-win for parents and children.
Nicholas Andrea is one of our most popular teachers – all of our students and parents love him! Nicholas Andrea now resides in the lush woodlands of northern Delaware with his family after spending the last six years teaching at the Asheville Waldorf School in North Carolina as a grades, music, and aftercare teacher. Nicholas earned his Waldorf Elementary and Music certifications at Sunbridge Institute in Spring Valley, NY. He is passionate about the Waldorf curriculum and believes in its ability to raise capable, compassionate, and creative human beings. After the birth of their son last October, Nicholas and his partner Cassie wanted more time at home with their baby which has led Nicholas to finding Earthschooling. Nicholas is also passionate about music, speech arts, and history. Known in other circles as “The Bard,” Nicholas’s lifelong love of music has led him to a variety of instruments including world percussion, dijeridoo, flutes of various kinds, and Irish and Scottish bagpipes. He is also a published poet, and he spends his spare time plumbing the mysteries of world history in order to understand how we got where we are and where we go from here.
