Description
This block includes biographies of famous mathematicians, a lesson block on binary systems and computers and a lesson block on geometry. The geometry block includes measurement of surface and volume. A curated list of math worksheets with answers is also included with this block. Teachers can use the worksheets to write problems on the board for students to copy into their Main Lesson Books.

Math and architecture share a foundation of logic, pattern, and spatial reasoning. Architects use geometry to define shapes, trigonometry for structural loads, and mathematical ratios (like the Golden Ratio) to create aesthetically pleasing proportions. Both disciplines transform abstract numbers and logic into tangible, functional realities.
Architects rely on math to ensure buildings can support their own weight, withstand weather, and remain standing. Trigonometry and algebra are used to calculate angles, roof pitches, and weight distribution. Mathematical principles are also the backbone of classical aesthetics. Concepts like symmetry and the Golden Ratio have been used for thousands of years to create natural, visually pleasing proportions in facades and floor plans. Ultimately, Math also dictates a space’s livability. Architects use basic arithmetic and geometry to calculate square footage, room volumes, and zoning setbacks to comply with building codes and maximize natural lighting and thermal performance.
