Question from Earthschooling Member: We are about to start g3 fiber arts block. I’m wondering if there is a standard drop spindle that Waldorf schools get for the kids. Top whorl or bottom whorl? Or something else entirely. I thought Navajo would be a nice one to go with Native American creation stories. But possibly too difficult for little hands. Thank you! – Jessica L.
Answer from Waldorf Teacher Diane Power: Hi Jessica! I’m not sure about the standard used across Waldorf schools. I can tell you that we used a bottom whorl. I do like your idea about using a Navajo spindle to go with the specific curriculum. You might give it a try after having experience on the bottom whorl.
