Question: We have a large whiteboard we use during homeschooling. How important is it to have a large chalkboard? We are limited on funds though I could prioritize it if it is a must. Can the whiteboard be a substitute, and drawing be made by me (and another for my daughter) on a small handheld chalkboard? – KC
Answer from Waldorf Teacher Diane Power: KC, what a great question! Yes, you could use the smaller chalkboard. You could also draw on paper while you are demonstrating the MLB drawing and save the chalkboard for practice.
Input from another member: A couple years ago, my partner had a giant white board he didn’t need at the office anymore. I bought a can of chalkboard paint (rather inexpensive) and a couple coats later we now have a giant chalkboard that hangs in our hallway! Of course you can stick with the white board, but if you don’t mind a little DIY it’d be easy and cheap to transform it – Jaklin
