Essential Oils on a Budget

Dear Students, As you know I like to post excerpts from student exams/assignments that I feel would be helpful or informative to other students. Here are some from the exams/assignments I looked at this week so far… * One student says “I needed Myrrh and Helicrysum but since they were expensive I purchased them in an eczema blend from Awaken My Senses Organics” I agree! This is exactly what you can do if there is an expesive oil you really want to use. I often do this myself! Great tip! * Another student says “I can’t sleep at night because my mind is so busy with things so I make a foot bath with 3 drops of lavender, 3 drops of marjorum, and 3 drops of Roman Chamomile.” I felt like this was a wonderful method because often people will put these oils on their pillow or in the air but this can make the problem worse because if your “mind is busy” then more smells can actually make it “busier”. So using a foot bath is a great solution! *One student says, “I had decongestion and was putting peppermint oil in my bath but I stopped because I read you should not put it directly in the bath.” A reminder from me – you CAN put oils into the bath if you mix them with milk first. This helps disperse the oil evenly and prevents injury from some of the stronger oils. *Ann from Norway reminds us – “Basil also contains anti-bacterial compounds which make it useful for a variety of ailments such as colds, flus and stomach problems. When combined with cloves it has been found to leech the body of heavy metal pollutants.” Thank you students and keep up the good work!
