Description
The BEarth Institute has purchased exclusive copyright, publishing, and distribution rights to Golden Beetle Books, The Spiritual Syllabus Series from Alan Whitehead and is beyond honored and excited to be continuing the tradition of spreading his wisdom for many more years to come.
The Spiritual Syllabus Series, written by Alan Whitehead, is by far the most comprehensive catalogue of the Rudolf Steiner program ever published – even today in 2020, years after the first book was published more than 25 years ago. There are approximately 43 teaching units detailed in each year — each usually taught in the “block” system. For instance, in the Class 3 & 4 language book, Logios – Spirit of the Word, the chapter titled, ‘The 12 Points of Punctuation’ refers to a whole 30-hour unit, as does each of 12 or so annotations.
The books cover the four main academic strands of modern schooling. In the spirit of balance, so important in Steiner education, these are Language, Maths, Social Studies, and Science.
There are 24 books, 6 in each of the 4 subject areas. These provide a full Steiner curriculum from Class 1 to 12. Plus there are 33 other titles including; A Steiner Homeschool, Choirs of Colours (Art Curriculum), Horns of Hermes (Music Education), The Golden Path (Handwork Curriculum), Touch the Earth Gently (Movement) and many more.
Alan Whitehead, the author, has enjoyed a career in Steiner Education spanning over four decades. He received his teacher education at Glenaeon School under the instruction of Miss Sylvia Brose. In 1967 he was one of the founding teachers in Australia’s first Steiner High School. He was also a principle and founding teacher and Australia’s second Steiner school, Lorien Novalis. As well, he founded, and was the director of the first full-time Steiner teacher-training facility in Australia, The Lorien Novalis College of Teacher Education.
