These short thoughts/tips are meant to be a brief and efficient way to offer a quick touch of inspiration for the day.
The Wonders of Food
Find new respect and admiration for the wonders of food. Food is a lot more than the calories and “recommended daily allowances” of nutrition that is associated with it.
We have associated food so much with weight that I hear young people say all the time, “I can eat what I want without gaining anything.”
I was even able to say that until I was 37 years old. But we need to stop doing this and thinking this way. Food is a lot more than calories or RDAs.
Food is about color, creativity, social gatherings, culture, the earth, the planet, hard work and harvest, beauty, joy, and much more. Find new ways to enjoy food instead of staying in the rut of “food as calories and RDAs”.
Some ideas are:
- Take up gardening.
- Take a cooking class.
- Discover something new (like the time I prepared an entirely raw food meal).
- Paint or draw pictures of food.
- Take beautiful pictures of food for your Instagram pages.
- Try foods from different cultures, or learn about the many diverse personalities of foods. One of the best books on this subject is “Healing with Whole Foods” by Paul Pitchford.
