Don’t be Dedicated: Be Passionate
Everyone always talks about how dedicated they are to follow through with their exercise program or how dedicated they have to be to stick to their diet (allergy, vegan, weight loss, whatever diet).
I don’t know about you but the word “dedicated” scares me a bit. It just sounds like a lot of work. Perhaps it’s a flashback from my cross country running days but I’ve discovered that I like the word “passionate” a lot more than “dedicated”.
Because when I am passionate about something I don’t even have to be dedicated. Dedication (bordering on obsession) automatically comes with that.
When you are passionate about walking, for example, you don’t need dedication.
Find your reason for walking – Is it music? Physical feeling? Photography? Friendship? Mediation? Other?
Mine is photography. I would walk a mile seeking the perfect photo and not even notice. When you are passionate about eating you don’t need dedication. What makes me passionate is making different kinds of delicious fresh gluten free breads every week.
