Find Your ONE THING:

Have you seen the movie, Megan Leavy?

It is about a troubled young woman who joins the army and finds her life changed when she becomes a bomb dog trainer and handler. I won’t ruin the ending for you but the best quote from that movie was when the father sees her heartbroken and laying in bed for weeks over something that happens with the dog.

He wants her to get up and live life again and tells her, “Find what is worth it. Find that one thing that is worth getting out of bed for – and fight for it.”

For her it was the dog. She didn’t need speeches, therapy, long lists of reasons why life was worth living, money, a better life or anything complicated.

It was simple – just ONE THING that is worth it. For me it is my children but it is also my photography. Those two things can offer a light even in my darkest hours. And the simplicity of focusing on that “one thing” that is worth it can make it easier to climb out of the darkness as well.

We can all find ONE THING and focus on it – even when we are worn or feeling defeated – right? What is your ONE THING?
