Words! Share your story
No matter what your journey is, sharing it with someone can help you. You can share it privately with a close friend, share with a natural health care practitioner or doctor, share with family, share with a support group or even share on Facebook or Instagram.
Be ready for questions and realize
1. Not everyone will understand your journey or support it
2. People may have questions – these can be frightening and sometimes shocking.
However, think of it as an opportunity to educate and reduce the stigma of talking about your specific journey. It is surprising that in today’s world of information-abundance that there are still so many misunderstandings about so many things including anxiety, depression, weight loss, birth defects, skin conditions, and the list can go on forever.
But each time a person talks about their own personal experience it creates one more drop of understanding in the world. Think back 20 years to when nobody even talked about some of these things at all and tried to hide them. So much progress has been made!
