Tuesday Tips: Overcoming Your Fears

Connect With Nature: Overcome Fears

I just spent four days with Wildlife Biologist Lynn Rogers (The Man Who Walks with Bears documentary by Animal Planet) and some of his friendly neighbors (Burt is pictured above) who live in the forest with him. It was an amazing experience.

My favorite inspirations from the visit were:

1. “It’s not about me. My fear of bears came from interpreting their behavior based on my own fears instead of understanding their behavior based on their fears”. – Lynn Rogers. Isn’t that an amazing observation? It’s amazing what nature can teach us about relationships in general as well as our relationship with nature.

2. My observation: What could happen in your life if you listened to nature instead of trying to control it? The community we stayed in lives with bears in harmony because they listen to the bears and don’t try to take over the forest with their own noise, ideas and rules. This is a bit what I am trying to do by leaving my back yard “wild” and not mowing – the idea is to embrace nature, understand it, respect it, and welcome it (to learn more about Lynn, the bears and the work of the North American Bear Center visit www.bear.org)
