#Earthschooling365: Day Sixty-Nine
Inner Work Meditation (Heart): Today as we celebrate Mother’s Day let’s take some time to think about what Mothering Energy is and how we can give and receive more of that in our lives. Everyone needs Mothering Energy in their life. Mothering Energy is nurturing, caring, understanding, accepting, and comforting. What other things does Mothering Energy mean to you? Where do you find this energy in your life? Think about ways you can give and receive more of this energy. Some examples can be taking walks in nature, observing mother’s in nature, enjoying a cup of tea made by someone else, giving or getting a hug, caring for a pet, sitting under a tree, and much more.
Nature Walk Idea (Head): We have already spent some time talking about parents in nature. Today your assignment is to go beyond the typical definition of mothering and try to observe some “Mothering Energy” in nature. The most obvious examples can be seen in the photos of the mother mallard and her ducklings – a mother caring for her babies in the most beautiful and caring way. Other examples are not as obvious. For example, in the photos of the heron you can see the heron is cleaning his feathers. When we care for ourselves we are mothering ourselves just like the heron. Often when I find a little enclave in nature – like a nice place under a tree – I feel protected and mothered. Your nature assignment today is to find Mothering Energy on your nature walk.
Photography Notes (Hands): Today’s assignment is to take a photo of something that represents Mothering Energy. Try to be creative in your representation. What are some non-typical ways you can show Mothering Energy through a photograph? Photographs do not always need to be direct in the way they represent the world. Sometimes the best photographs can be symbolic or abstract but still convey a message indirectly.

Sister sun soothes him with her glow
The rain sings them Lyrical lullabies
And that is how the wee seeds grow
