#Earthschooling365: Day Eighty
Inner Work Meditation (Heart): Today on my walk I spent a lot of time looking down. As I passed others on the walk I noticed they were all looking straight ahead. So they did not get to see the beautiful mushroom below, nor the little mushrooms sprouting from the log, or the mushroom village in the grass. Do you ever find yourself looking straight ahead all day? Take some time today to think about how you can literally change your point of view. Think of ways, during the day today, that you can crouch down to talk to a child, sit down to chat with a friend, talk with someone in person that you usually call on the phone or even walk with someone you usually sit with. By physically changing your point of view with others you can learn more about them and connect with them in different ways. You could even try some “silly” postures like talking to someone while doing a headstand or lying upside-down on a chair.
Nature Walk Idea (Head): Today’s assignment is to explore the wet places on your walk and see what plants, animals and insects are attracted to these places. In the photo above you can see how a mushroom was happy to grow in a bed of wood chips after the rain, but once the ground dried up it died. In the other photos the ground remained wet and the mushrooms flourished. What other things flourish in the damp ground?
Photography Notes (Hands): Today’s assignment is to take three kinds of photos of one subject. If you notice the three photos I took today of mushrooms you will notice that one is abstract in nature, one is a well framed portrait of a group of mushrooms and the third is more of a scientific photo – a photo that has documentation as its main focus rather than beauty or art. Choose one subject of your own today and do the same thing. Take one photo with your subject presented in an abstract manner, another photo in a documentary manner and another as a simple portrait.
