#Earthschooling365: Day Eighty-Three
Inner Work Meditation (Heart): Today we will be meditating on another of our twelve senses – our sense of sight. The sense of sight goes beyond simply being able to see a tree and identify it as a tree. Our sense of sight is very complex and allows us to see more deeply into things we view. For example, when we see the different colors of trees we can tell what season it is. Or when we see a person we can also gain visual cues as to what kind of person they are. Other living beings have even more powerful vision. Eagles, turkey vultures and hawks can all see small mammals on the ground from over a mile. Some animals even see colors we cannot see. Take some time today to think about ways you can develop your sense of sight more or how you can help others do so. Some ideas may be watercolor painting, visiting an art museum, taking photos, identifying trees, or enjoying the sights on a nature walk.
Nature Walk Idea (Head): Today’s nature walk assignment is to choose at least ten things and look at them from underneath. You can pick up leaves and look on the bottom of them, you can lift up logs and you can even lay on the ground and look at the under-side of tall flowers. What do you see? Did you find anything surprising?
Photography Notes (Hands): Today’s assignment is to get a different perspective on something by taking a photo of something that is not obvious. For example, I found a tiny clutch of bunnies under some grass. They were hidden until I took their photo. Other ideas are to turn a log upside-down and take a photo, take a photo looking towards your walking trail instead of out from it, take a photo from under a tree or ledge, or take a photo of anything that becomes revealed once you move something else.

Students always loved the “silly words” verses we did during circle time. You can encourage them to make up their own words and create a third verse if they want to.
*These poems have been created for many purposes – from early childhood circle time verses to inspirational or expressive. They vary from day to day so you may find the way you use them or enjoy them also varies. If you would like to set these poems to music consider our tutorial: Creating Your Ow Waldorf Verses or Finding Your Inner Voice.
