#Earthschooling365: Day Eighty-Six
Inner Work Meditation (Heart): Today we will explore another one of our twelve senses – the sense of movement. A person is always experiencing movement in some way even if it is small. Every few seconds your eyes blink. This is a small movement. When you pour a cup of tea this is a bit larger of movement. And when you jump or dance this is an even larger movement. Even the ongoing journey we are making from birth to death is a sort of movement.
Do you ever feel “cabin fever” from not being able to move as much in the winter? Do you ever find it challenging to sit through an entire hour-long speech? Do you find yourself wanting to move after sitting for a long period of time? What is it that is giving you these messages? It is your sense of movement. If a person’s sense of movement is ignored anxiety and/or depression can result. Physical ailments such as restless leg syndrome can also come about from ignoring one’s sense of movement. Today’s inner work assignment is to get in touch with your sense of movement or a child or companion’s movement needs. In today’s society children are often overwhelmed with movement when they are taken from activity to activity every day. A typical child may have ballet, soccer, and swim lessons in just one day. On the other hand, many adults in today’s society are suffering from lack of movement due to jobs that keep them at desks for long hours. Do you need to move more or less? What about the people (adults or children) you know or work with daily?

Photography Notes (Hands): Today’s assignment is to focus on how you can use matching colors to add illusion to your photos. In the photo of the crow on the lamp post it almost appears that the crow is a figure on top of the post because his color is so similar to that of the post. In this case the color black is the focus of the photo and adds interest. What colors can you find around you today that match? What optical illusions can you create from the things you see around you today?
Verse: The Crow and the Lamp Post
Copyright Kristie Burns
There once was a crow on a post
Who’s light perch made him boast
But the bulb switched on
His fate was forgone
He fried like a dark piece of toast
**Limmerick: A fixed light verses form of five generally anapestic lines rhyming AABBA. A metrical foot consisting of two unaccented syllables followed by an accented syllable.
