Ask a Waldorf Teacher: What Colors Should We Use With Form Drawing Lessons?

Every Wednesday our members get to ask Waldorf teacher Diane Power questions about their homeschooling experience, Waldorf education and more. These Q & A sessions are posted on the member blog every week so you have access to all the past Q & A sessions. Question from Member: When form drawing with multiple children is it best to all use one color or does it not matter much? – J.R.

Reply from Diane: Form drawing with multiple children – same age and same form? If it assists with the flow of the lesson, keep it simple and everyone use the same color. Some forms call for more than one color and/or shading (4th grade knot work). Older children can usually have more freedom in color choice. I find it’s best to let the younger children know what color the form will be drawn in.

J.R.: Multiple children same form different ages 7-12ish

Diane: With the range in ages, it would probably be best to use one color to accommodate the youngest.
