Question by Member: How can Earthschooling answer the needs of a child on the autism spectrum?
Answer by Earthschooling: We have worked with a number of students in our classrooms that are on the autism spectrum. We have found the curriculum was well suited to them because of the gentle rhythm (breathing in-breathing out), gentle tactile experiences, activities like circle time, wet-on-wet watercolor, storytelling, bread shaping, regular nature walks, and and flexibility. A lot of the curriculum philosophies speak to basic needs in all children, but needs that are especially pronounced in the life of the autistic child.
