AS ABOVE – SO BELOW
Cosmometry to Geometry
I am Point, the Horror Vacuum – of revelation.
My nothingness ignites fear in the material heart.
I am the Fount of Man – spirit-water of Word,
Spirit-light, a sword.
From me all Being is born, to me all Beings are drawn.
I am Circle – all beginning and no end.
I am eternity, yet the moment contained,
In a perfect thought.
I am, I was, and I will be.
I am a girdle stout, dividing within from without,
All moving, all knowing, all supporting.
I am Ellipse, the dynamic of yesteryear and tomorrow,
Of gladness and sorrow.
All dwell in my duality – all behold my polarity.
My twin foci sweep planets round the sun,
Dividing dark from light, Left from Right.
I am the Self-wrought, the world-wright.
I am Parabola, lemniscatic song-line, a star sign;
The shortest distance between Earth and Heaven.
My curve is time – my number seven.
Fiery fingers of the blind,
Crack the carapace of the mind.
Touch inspirational, forges change incarnational.
I am Hyperbola, fling-swinging over and out – far out!
My wings bear death to Life – a Theus shout!!
My hon-heart beating sends waves of meeting –
Far meeting, throughout the world – beyond worlds.
I giveth and I taketh away – far away.
I am Pentagram, stasis star of movement.
An unbroken path to the sun – and back,
Mine is the gate between above and below.
I seek out my brothers, at their five sacred points.
Bright tips of starlight I gravely anoint.
All power to The Five, the Spirit alive.
I am Hexagram, I listen within, to a softer song,
To the short, and to the long.
Woman am I, my moon-blessed womb strives
To right the scales – to draw the mails.
To harmonize the never-meeting interlacing,
The all-repeating interfacing – of South and North.
I temper thought – with justice.
I am Square, my lattice of light is the keystone of life.
Heed my mineral-will whispers;
Listen to my ice-glitter Logos.
Will you build on my rock, or sink in my sand?
May the thought that takes form from crystalline clay,
Soar with The Eagle of brown, black and grey.
Only then, Oh Man, will you understand.
I am curve; I run with the rills the spume and the spills.
Quaff of my liquid of life, quench at my well of wonder –
Or wander, from river reaches to crescent beaches.
Walk tall through my weight-waters of resolve;
False fear of the future – dissolve!
I am Triangle, bright eye of the gods.
I glimmer whitely on ramparts,
Stark against-wine-dark sea.
Angulated zephyrs dance lightly,
On pediment and pedestal
Caper crop capriciously on me.
From my eyrie, god-wrought thought girds the globe
On jetstreams lux luminous.
I am Archimedian Spiral traveling in, traveling out.
Nature knows my constancy, my continuity,
My seasons, my reasons for routine.
My cycles of circles support you on earth,
On your fore-writ purpose path,
On your time to live, your space to pass.
On your ever-lasting voyage ‘cross the cool-warm seas
Of Life and Afterlife – of harms and balms.
May you sup at Nature’s table, sleep in Nature’s arms.
I am Logarithmic Spiral, as above so below,
From the slow to the go.
The measure of man am I.
The twin-finned tread of life, the Phi
Journey my golden number whorls,
Surf my vortex of destiny,
Rejoice my oratorio orbs.
Till I bear you back,
To the light beyond the light,
To the point of no return, to return, To the Point.
A detailed explanation of the zodiacal implications of the above poem can be found in my book on the Spirit in architecture – Many Mansions.
The following is a construction of a pentagram/gon (to construct a hexagram, merely mark the radius of a circle round the perimeter).Draw a circle; draw a horizontal line through the center; draw a vertical line from the center; find center of line AC by cutting the circle at two points DE with arcs of the radius of the circle from A; join DE to find F on horizontal line; set compass to FB to find G – BG is the length of the sides of the pentagon; from B mark four points round the circle.
