As an independent bookstore each of the titles we carry are selected with informed care. Our books are intentionally chosen with seven elements in mind. Below are examples of titles deliberately selected based on each of these factors: Waldorf classics, new releases, diversity and inclusion, exclusive rights, community demand, author & publisher partnerships, and shipping conditions.

These are the essential texts of Waldorf education from Steiner’s lectures to books associated with foundational Waldorf lesson blocks like saints and heroes in second grade, house building in third grade, human and animal in fourth grade, and so on. At our core, it’s our mission to make these titles available and accessible.

While Waldorf Books is based in the United States, we always consider our global community and their needs. People of different races, religions, and cultures practice Waldorf education in both the northern and southern hemispheres, in urban and rural areas, by homeschooling or as part of a co-op, and under as many circumstances as there are families embracing Steiner education.

Author and Publisher Partnerships

Relationships with our distributors are important in supplying our stock. If we cannot source a book we can’t carry it. A title may go out of print, be on backorder for an extended period, or get pulled due to agreements between authors, printers, and whole-sellers.

Community Demand

Yes, what you buy and request impacts our inventory! If a book is flying off the shelves we re-order it more often. I also maintain a “Top Seller” tag that includes community favorites based on sales.

Shipping Conditions

Some books simply do poorly with shipping due to shape, material, and a number of other physical aspects. We pack using stiff envelopes and folding boxes with recycled bubblewrap and paper tape, and if you order an e-book you’re instantly emailed a direct download link!
