Before we took on the project of managing WaldorfBooks.com I purchased my books from Amazon, not realizing the damage it was doing to the book economy and small authors and publishers. I had never sold any retail items before, so I didn’t have a lot of insight. I also didn’t take time to think about how the experience itself shaped my purchase. I would like to share some important things that I have learned since managing Waldorf Books. This experience has changed the way I buy my own books and has made me even more passionate about supporting small booksellers.

Earthschooling has purchased exclusive copyright, publishing, and distribution rights to Golden Beetle Books from Alan Whitehead and is beyond honored and excited to be continuing the tradition of spreading his wisdom for many many years to come.
Alan is an educator that inspired us when Earthschooling was started more than 25 years ago. We will do our best to honor everything he stands for and will be re-printing his books in physical print format as well as creating digital editions of all 54 books!
Colin Price trained as a public school teacher and subsequently taught in three different public schools. Dissatisfied with the lack of real pedagogy and insight into the growing child, he found his way to Emerson College where he took a Waldorf teacher-training under that inspiring individual Francis Edmunds.
Colin has been active ever since, both as a class teacher and a subject teacher. He has taken three whole classes through their eight years of elementary schooling from grade 1 to grade 8, as is the practice in Waldorf schools, and has picked up two others in their middle school years.
Author of the majority of BEarth Publishing’s titles, Dr. Kristie Burns, Mh, ND, Ph.D. is the Dean of Students and Director of Curriculum Development at our sister company, Earthschooling. She has an BA in anthropology and linguistics from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. She also holds a masters and doctorate degree in plant biology and naturopathy. She was trained as an early childhood Waldorf-inspired teacher and as an early-childhood Montessori assistant. Kristie has also attended and taught at numerous Waldorf Education Conferences from 1998 to 2009. She has been creating Waldorf-inspired curriculum with a consulting board of professional Waldorf teachers since 1994.
Eric Fairman is a delightfully creative (and amazingly well-organized!) Waldorf grade school teacher in Australia who has done us all a great service by publishing the lesson notes he has kept through the years. In this as in all the Path of Discovery books, you will find suggested lessons, examples of ways of presenting the subject matter, verses, poems, songs – and, most importantly, a priceless amount of support and inspiration.
